Drug Alert: Fentanyl sold as cocaine

Sydney: Fentanyl found in cocaine and crystal meth.
How are you celebrating Mardi Gras this year? 🏳️🌈 Whether you’re just going to the parade or are planning a full-on bender, you need to know that there have been recent cases of fentanyl contaminating other drugs people have bought.
Both cocaine and crystal meth bought in Sydney’s Inner West have been found to be contaminated with fentanyl. 😱
Fentanyl is a very strong synthetic opioid, which can be up to 100x stronger than morphine. Even a few grains of fentanyl can be enough to cause someone to overdose. The risk of overdose is also much higher if you aren’t a regular opioid user, which is why we are very concerned to hear that drugs sold as coke and meth have tested positive for fentanyl.
If you’re taking drugs this weekend, be on the lookout for unexpected symptoms, e.g. drowsiness when using cocaine or methamphetamine 🚀
Signs of opioid overdose include:
Drowsiness
Loss of consciousness
Face is very pale or clammy
Slow, shallow and/or erratic breathing
Vomiting 🤮
Change in skin tone: bluish/purple for lighter skinned people, grayish for darker skinned people.
