Amyl

Just Say Know!

Name(s): POPPERS, RUSH, RAM, JUNGLE JUICE, AMYS, BOPPERS, LIQUID GOLD, THRUST, AMYL
Chemical Compound:
N-Amyl nitrite
2-Methylpropyl nitrite

Amyl nitrite is an inhalant and relaxes smooth muscles tissue around blood vessels, causing the blood vessels to dilate. As amyl relaxes muscles in the anus and vagina, it is sometimes used during sex to facilitate penetration. Amyl nitrite is a drug that affects the heart and blood circulatory system. Though usually only described in Australia as amyl or amyl nitrite, some types of poppers are actually other forms of alkyl nitrites, which include isobutyl nitrite and butyl nitrite. Amyl is sold recreationally as a liquid for the purpose of inhaling the vapour. Amyl nitrite has a very low vapour point, which means that although it is a liquid, it evaporates as soon as it is opened to the atmosphere.

Safer Using Tips :

Taking drugs is never without risk. Information on dose and length of action are of a general nature. Each person’s response to a drug will depend heavily upon individual factors such as body weight, kidney and liver function. Because most illicit drugs are of unknown purity and weight, use caution when dosing, start low and go slow.

  • DO NOT SWALLOW THE LIQUID INSIDE THE BOTTLE, AS THIS CAN BE FATAL. If this happens by accident, call 000 immediately.

  • Amyl is inhaled directly from the bottle. Recap it immediately after inhaling.

  • Start with a small dose to test strength.

  • Close one nostril and take a breath with the other.

  • You may become dizzy, so be aware of your surroundings. Sit down if you need to.

  • The contents of a bottle can vary as this is an uncontrolled substance; it could be one of several similar compounds.

  • Amyl is extremely flammable and highly volatile. Do not smoke or use any kind of open flame near an      open bottle of amyl.

  • Use in a safe environment with people that you trust.

  • Have a person that you trust, preferably an experienced user, present with you, particularly as you may feel faint, or sexually aroused.

  • Do not touch the liquid – contact with the skin can cause irritation and rash.

  • Extensive use can damage the nose and lungs.

  • Never combine amyl with Viagra (sildenafil) or other erectile dysfunction medications as these drugs have similar effects by causing sudden decrease in blood pressure - this can be a fatal combination.

  • To prevent spilling, particularly when using to enhance sexual intercourse, pour a small amount in a separate, clearly marked glass bottle filled with cotton-wool balls – an old amyl bottle is ideal for this. Store the rest, tightly sealed, in the fridge or freezer. Always mark your amyl clearly, as ingestion can be fatal.

  • Be careful not to spill the liquid as it can cause a nasty reaction on your skin.

Unsafe Combinations:

Amyl combined with…

  • Viagra or other erectile dysfunction medications = a high risk of loss of consciousness due to sudden and extreme drop in blood pressure. This may require immediate medical attention - call 000 in case of emergency.

  • Amphetamines or other stimulants = increased strain on the heart and places the body under excess stress.

  • Depressants = can lead to depressed breathing.

  • Alcohol = risk of hypotension and cardiovascular collapse.

  • Psychedelics = strong combination leading to visual and auditory combinations. Sit down trying this combination. Can lead to extreme headaches.
